Who is Rene?
René Schulte is Director of Global Innovation at Valorem Reply and leader of the Spatial Computing and Metaverse practice at Reply working with teams across the globe on emerging technologies.
He is a creative developer, thought leader and digital content creator with a passion for UX, (Edge) Cloud computing and deep technical knowledge from more than 15 years in VR/AR, Spatial Computing technology and 3D programming, developing for the Microsoft HoloLens since 2015. He coded AI deep learning before it was cool and is excited about Quantum Computing.
He was featured on Forbes and is invited as expert to global TV stations and a frequent keynote speaker and panelist at conferences and is the creator of the video podcasts QuBites and Meta Minutes.
He was honored for 13 years with the Microsoft MVP award, recognized as Microsoft Regional Director and Advisory Board member for the VRARA and XR Bootcamp.
He lives in Dresden, Germany with his wife and their 5 children.
Tell us more about your role in Valorem Reply.
As the lead for Spatial Computing and Metaverse I’m working with teams across the globe on emerging technologies like 3D volumetric video streaming, Remote Rendering, VPS, the AR Cloud Real-World Metaverse. Being a trusted advisor for our clients and providing business value by supporting project execution ranging from discovery, envisioning and strategic consulting to technical implementation.
What is the most difficult part of your job? But the most rewarding one?
Always working with bleeding edge technology means there’s little information one can simply find on the web, so a lot of sweat & tears but once the puzzle pieces are together, it is very rewarding being one of the first to get it working and then later on sharing the results with the world in talks and on social media.
Is there anything that you would change about your professional path?
Not much. Maybe I should have started earlier to produce podcasts.
What’s your key strategy for the development of your company?
Innovation. Investing into multiple emerging technologies sets a company up for future success, in particular in technology where technology changes rapidly and some things might work and others fail.
What do you think about the next period of time, keeping in mind the pandemic and the new business climate? How will your industry be affected?
The IT industry is one of the few that has been a winner of the changes and the rapid need for digital transformation in this hybrid work world where now many people work part time remotely.
